We know that in every practice or organization full of human beings, there’s going to be conflict.
There’s going to be times when things don’t go exactly as planned. In this video, the Line of Sight Coaches, Dr. Joel Small and Dr. Mac McDonald, discuss conflict and how effective leaders don’t deal with conflict head-on. Instead, they diffuse the conflict by putting the responsibility and choice back on the team member.
Setting a clear mission, vision and values as a team puts in place the boundaries for what you are willing to accept and not accept as an organization.
Once you are all in alignment with these expectations, you are able to easily spot conflict when a situation is outside of those boundaries. A leader can then have a conversation with the team members in conflict. When approached the team member can choose to come back to the fold and become part of the organization, or they might want to look for one that would better serve their needs.
