Finding Your Way in the Dark
It’s not often that I have the pleasure of promoting a book written by a longtime friend, colleague, and coaching client. Dr. Edwin (Mac) McDonald and I have worked together professionally, as well as being personal friends, for over thirty years now. Mac is an exceptionally talented restorative dentist and a teacher who has a passion for sharing his knowledge with colleagues. He does this as a faculty member of the Pankey Institute and the Spear Education Institute.
Mac has recently released his first book, “Unchanging Points of Light,” which can now be purchased on Amazon. Mac was kind enough to present me with an autographed copy of his book, and last weekend I began reading it.
Having known Mac for such a long time, I felt like I had a pretty good grasp of his intellect. I have always found him to be a deep thinker and one of my most insightful friends. I expected that a book written by Mac would be a worthy read. Given this background, it is hard for me to overstate the profound impact Mac’s book had on me. I was overwhelmed by Mac’s ability to define our current state of human existence in such a rational, historical and philosophical perspective. I was literally unable to put the book down and had read it from cover to cover before the end of the weekend.
We are living in arguably one of the most difficult times in human history. Certainly, in my lifetime, I have never seen a world so inflamed and teetering on the edge of the abyss that Mac describes so eloquently. Mac, through his writing, is able make sense of a world that many of us find to be senseless. He explains the darkness that currently plagues humanity. More importantly, he suggests a path to the light that we so desperately seek.
Mac is a person of deep faith and, yet, anyone can find meaning and guidance in his book.
Do yourself a favor and read “Unchanging Points of Light.” I promise that you will not be disappointed.
